John G. Yakubik, 61, of West Cranberry Avenue, West Hazleton, entered heaven when the good Lord received him after he died at his home Monday evening.

Born June 28, 1955, in Salzburg, Austria, he was a son of John J. Yakubik of Harleigh and the late Gertrude (Menninger) Yakubik and was a member of the Community Bible Fellowship Church of Hazleton.

John was a graduate of Hazleton High School and for more than 20 years was owner and operator of Johnie’s Chimney Service of Hazleton.

He and his wife, Debbie, who had just passed away in February, loved to spend time together, especially traveling and attending concerts. John was a former member of the Kosciusko Club and was an avid sports fan who enjoyed following the Phillies, Eagles and Steelers.

Preceding him in death, in addition to his mother, were his wife of 11 years, the former Deborah Ann Swindro, and sister, Monica Yakubik.

Surviving, in addition to his father, are his daughters, Brandy Schuk and her husband, Eddie, West Palm Beach, Fla.; and Justine Yakubik, New York; granddaughter, Jada Saullo, Sugarloaf Twp.; brother, Richard Yakubik, Hazle Twp.; and sister, Linda Yakubik and Tony Lynstrom, Hazleton. Also surviving are his sister-in-law, Alice Woodring Keyock and her husband, Joseph, Hazleton; brothers-in-law, Norman Woodring, Harleysville; George Woodring, Florida; and Michael Swindro, Florida; and his beloved pets, Bella and Jake.

Friends are invited to gather at the Hazle Chapel of Krapf & Hughes Funeral Home Inc., 426 W. Broad St., Hazleton, on Tuesday for a visitation period from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Following the visitation period, there will be a procession to the Community Bible Fellowship Church, Hazleton, where the Rev. Walter Witowsky will preside over a memorial service that will begin at 1 p.m.

Burial will follow in St. John’s Byzantine Catholic Cemetery, Hazleton.
